5 Pips, September 2026 – What a find. A brilliant community‑owned pub in Portloe with a warm, genuinely local vibe. Dog‑friendly throughout, with a gorgeous garden strung with soft fairy‑light bulbs that make it feel magical at dusk. And the food… an absolute revelation. The standard rivals top award‑winning, Michelin‑level cooking. Add in the genuinely lovely bar staff and you have a total gem.
5 Pips, September 2026 – Wow what a pub, great food ( and we did try to work our way through the whole menu ), great local beers and ciders( particularly the Polgoon from Penzance), great quiz night ( shout out to Jammy!) but best of all just a great welcome from all the staff.
This is everything that a community pub should be and long may it last.
This really is a jewel of the Roseland peninsula and we thoroughly recommend it to ‘one and all’, we will be back .
5 Pips, August 2026 – Excellent food, excellent ale, friendly staff. Wide ranging menu with a focus on everything being locally produced or sourced. Fantastic village pub atmosphere with a family and dog friendly garden area.

The hake was very well cooked in two ways – one was curried and the other seared withe a lobster potato salad.
The pudding was a cheese cake ( the base was made with custard creams) with a Pimms jelly on top.
The beer was Verdant Lightbulb
5 Pips, June 2026 – The customer service was warm and friendly. We had a Veggie Sunday roast. Exquisite – flavoursome and by far the best pub food we have ever tasted. We will definitely be back.
5 Pips, May 2026 – We received the most amazing welcome from Cal and his team. The food and service were exceptional. Small plates – crab cake, Veggie Quesadillas and Mozzarella Fritters – amazing! Then onto the larger plates – Beer Battered Haddock and fresh Camel Fish Lobster Linguine which could challenge any restaurant 🦞
